Principal Second Violin

Tapiola Sinfonietta is calling for applications for a Principal Second Violin. The sections two principals and the sub-principal are leading the second violins with their courageous and visionary example in co-operation with the concertmasters and other section leaders. The principals are responsible for the second violin ensemble playing and making sure the work is divided evenly among the section's players as well as maintaining their soloistic preparedness. Audience outreach and chamber music in smaller ensembles are a vital part of the Tapiola Sinfonietta's activities and the musician's job description.

We take into consideration all applications sent during the application period. The orchestra selects the musicians to the audition based on the applications. The audition is held in the Espoo Cultural Centre's Tapiola Hall (address Kulttuuriaukio 2, 02100 Espoo) on Monday December 2, 2024 starting at 9:00 am. Tuesday December 3, 2024 is also reserved for the audition. The orchestra does not compensate any costs of the audition for the applicants. The orchestra provides a pianist for the audition. If one of the present members of the orchestra is selected as the winner of the audition, his/her tutti violin position may be filled through this audition. It is also possible to fill the open position of the Sub-Principal II Violin if a suitable candidate is found through this audition.

This is a permanent position.

Competence requirements: Applicable university or college degree or other suitable education.
Other requirements: Leadership skills and soloistic preparedness.
