We are looking for a new colleague to join our team!
HAMK Career Services has an open, fixed-term position for a Specialist, Career Guidance. The fixed-term position is open due to a leave of absence of our current colleague.
Specialist’s Main Responsibilities
The goal of the career guidance specialist’s role is to enhance HAMK’s international degree students’ job-seeking skills, networking opportunities and employment within their field of study.
The specialist offers individual and group career guidance for HAMK’s degree students in our English-taught degree programmes. They guide, mentor and advise international degree students on how to secure work placement and employment opportunities, considering the students’ individual circumstances and needs.
The guidance provided is comprehensive, encompassing career guidance which supports the development of students’ job-seeking skills in Finland as well as enhances students’ abilities to recognise their own skills and articulate them convincingly to potential employers. Group career guidance sessions are offered as part of Career Services’ service provision to degree programmes. As part of the role, the specialist acts as a trainer and facilitator in workshop sessions for students on CVs, cover letters and LinkedIn. In addition, they organise pop-ups, webinars and other context-related events for students, such as job interview simulations.
The role also involves maintaining active contact with local and regional employers and stakeholders, with the aim of generating more work placements and part-time positions for our degree students. The specialist also contributes to recruitment fairs and other events on HAMK’s campuses and works in close collaboration with HAMK’s internal stakeholders, including work placement coordinators, study counsellors and Heads of Degree Programmes for HAMK’s English-taught degree programmes.
